This course builds skills in clinical assessment (pariksha). Students learn and practice many different Ayurvedic diagnostic techniques (pulse, tongue, nails, skin, speech, eyes, etc.) and learn to evaluate their findings in terms of health and disease. Students differentiate between techniques that are important to use in each case and those that are particular to a disease system.
Course Objective
Differentiate among the different types of rogi pariksha. ● Discriminate among the subdoshas, their sthana and their normal physiological function. ● Give an example of how an abnormal physiological function of each subdosha could be determined through a diagnostic methods. (Subdosha>abnormal function>diagnostic method) ● Explain the difference between dosha vriddhi and dosha kshaya. ● Explain how the vitiation of dosha and dushya (dhatus and malas), agni and ama can lead to disease. ● Name and categorize the most commonly used diagnostic tools and explain them simply. ● Create a Client Intake Form to be used as a diagnostic tool. ● Develop a Diagnostic Handbook or binder that will track Diagnostic Methods per srotas/system (signature assignment).
