Course Description
300-hour Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist A bridge program for integrating the sister sciences of Ayurveda and Yoga

Course Objective:
Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist - Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy personalizes the yogic practice for each individual based on his or her constitutional type and current state of being. These sister sciences are most effective when practiced together.

In our programs we meet one full weekend per month to immerse ourselves in and integrate the ancient arts of Ayurveda & Yoga into our body, mind and spirit. Ayurvedic wisdom says that "A person is as old as their digestive system", therefore we have a special emphasis on digestion and detoxification in this program.

We tell our students to think of themselves as their first client. This is about personal immersion into these ancient sacred sciences through tongue and pulse reading, an individualized approach to yoga, pranayama (focused breath-work), diet & spices, meditation, mantra, mudra, chakra, srota, nadi and marma balancing, as well as dinacharya (daily living routines) to restore balance and harmony.

Ayurveda & the Endocrine System: An Integrative Exploration

Course Delivery Method: Live (On Line)

Topics in Ayurveda: 30 PACE

Course Description:
Modern medicine defines the endocrine system as a network of glands that produce and release hormones that direct many important bodily functions, such as regulating metabolism, growth, reproduction and homeostasis. Ancient Ayurveda does not have an anatomical designation that directly corresponds to the modern endocrine system, yet it offers a holistic, coherent approach to understanding and managing endocrine health through the lens of the tridosha (vata, pitta, kapha), agni (the digestive fire), and ojas (vital energy & immunity).

In this course, we will explore several common endocrine disorders from the Ayurveda perspective, such as hypothyroidism, diabetes, adrenal fatigue, PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), and more. While modern endocrinology focuses on medications, hormone replacement therapies, and surgery for endocrine disorders, Ayurveda emphasizes root cause analysis, detoxification (Shodhana), rejuvenation (Rasayana), dietary adjustments, herbal medicines, and mind-body interventions.

We will consider how Ayurveda understands the associated organs, tissues and systems, drawing from the ancient texts, such as Aṣṭāṅga Hṛdayam, Caraka Samhitā, Suśruta Samhitā, and Mādhava Nidāna. A consideration of Ayurveda and modern endocrinology offers a complementary and integrative approach to understanding the body and supporting hormonal health.

Course Objectives:
1. Describe Ayurveda’s perspective on the functions and structures of modern anatomy’s endocrine system
2. Compare and contrast Ayurveda’s explanation and treatment of dosha and dhatu imbalance with allopathic endocrinology’s explanation and treatment strategies
3. Support oneself and clients with new tools and strategies to make diet and lifestyle changes to improve function of the endocrine system
4. Deepen understanding of basic principles of Ayurveda

Our mission is not only an effort to expand the accessibility of caregivers trained in this conscious way of caring for new parents and babies but also to affect social change on a broader level.
