Self-nominations for 2 (two) positions on the NAMA Board of Directors are now open!

NAMA is looking for two (2) qualified candidates who will help further advance the association in its growth, engagement, and its advancement of Ayurveda in the United States. The NAMA Board of Directors has a significant impact on the future of the Ayurvedic profession in the United States. The NAMA Board of Directors position is for a three-year term, from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028. The NAMA Board of Directors will welcome all newly elected Board Members at their July 2025 meeting.
Eligibility
Nominees eligible to run for the Board include all NAMA members with active memberships in the general, student, professional and organizational categories, and who meet the following requirements, as stated in NAMA’s Bylaws. This nomination process is not open to the public. The eligibility requirements are:
Member of NAMA for at least one year.
Resident of the U.S. (living in the U.S. a minimum of 183 days in a calendar year).
Actively participating on a committee, subcommittee, or work group now or at any time during the past two (2) years.
Involvement in more than one NAMA committee in the past few years is preferred.
Application Process

Within the application form, nominees are required to attest that they have read the following policies and documents. Nominees should ensure reading these documents before starting the application process.

A written statement of interest to be included on the voting ballot which will be sent to the membership, and includes the following:
2.The reasons the nominee wants to serve on the NAMA Board of Directors (100 words maximum).
3. A list of skills applicable to lead in the direction and growth of NAMA (50 words maximum).
4. Experience (professional or volunteering) serving in the following different areas whether in NAMA or other organizations and institutions: governance, governing boards, not for profit, conference, education, marketing, research, leadership, governance, policy and planning, fundraising, committee work (50 words maximum).
5. Background in the Ayurveda field and profession: education, training and experience.

c. A headshot photo (in JPEG). The photo will be included on the voting ballot that will be sent to the membership.
d. A copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae or resume.
e. A signed copy of the NAMA Conflict of Interest Policy Form.
f. A signed copy of the NAMA Volunteer Agreement Form.
Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by the NAMA Nominations and Elections Committee and forwarded for vetting to the NAMA Ethics Committee, which may, at its discretion, require the Person to sign an agreement as to those situations in which recusal, disclosure, abstention or other mitigation procedures are required of the said Person’s conflict of interest(s).
The NAMA Nominations and Elections Committee will present its nomination recommendations to the NAMA Board of Directors for approval, and the election ballots will be sent to the membership by Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Voting will be open for 6 weeks.
The selection process will be finalized Wednesday, May 28, 2025, by the NAMA Nominations and Elections Committee. The election result will be ratified by the Board of Directors during the June business meeting.
Candidates will be notified by email regarding the election outcome. Elected candidates will start their term on July 1, 2025, and are invited to attend their first business meeting of the Board of Directors in July.
