Student Members Mingle: Women’s Health

Women continue to seek alternative health care for pregnancy and their unique health concerns. Discuss the role of Ayurveda as it is integrated by licensed health professionals into their practices, as well as its use in supporting roles played by doulas or prenatal yoga teachers.

Laura Newman, CAP, certified Labor/Birth/Postpartum Doula, is a graduate of The Ayurvedic Institute. She lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, with her husband and toddler. In her practice she blends Doula services and Ayurveda to support families on their path to parenthood.

Heather Burkhart, CAP, of Wisconsin, is the founder of Her Well Being Ayurveda & Yoga and has been practicing since 2013. Her specialty is women's wellness including pregnancy and postpartum. She offers consultation, group programs, webinars, and yoga classes.

Susan Lewis, CAP, RN, of Tennessee, is a certified nurse-midwife and on faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Along with her clients, she loves learning about and helping manage that which influences the happy and unhappy states of life.
