Course Description
Abhyanga is the classical full-body oil treatment in Ayurveda, utilizing warm herbalized oil and rhythmic body technique to move the oil into the body. Soothing and nurturing, it is one the best techniques for balancing prana (life force)—a main goal of Ayurveda. Explore ancient Ayurvedic treatments to cleanse, heal, and harmonize the body, mind, and spirit. Gain knowledge of Ayurvedic bodywork techniques used in rejuvenation therapy, the Ayurvedic oils used in the treatments, and a brief history and background of Ayurveda.

Course Objective
*Share the basic theory of the three doshas and their gunas in application to bodywork *Perform and teach the technique of self-massage *Perform a full-body abhyanga treatment with oil *Customize the treatment to balance disturbed doshas *The importance of sacred sound for facilitating a healing environment.

Provider Name Hilary Garivaltis

Provider Bio Hilary Garivaltis is a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and serves as the current Executive Director of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association and was the Founder and former Dean of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda in Stockbridge, MA. She graduated from UMass Amherst in 1980 and went on to study Ayurvedic medicine in the United States and then in India from 1997-2007. She continues to study with the world's leading teachers in the United States and in India whenever she gets the chance.
