Our Professional Memberships

NAMA is the leading voice of the Ayurvedic profession in the United States. NAMA’s Professional Membership is open to Ayurvedic professionals who meet previously established qualifying criteria. Together we can drive the future of Ayurveda in the United States.

Professional Memberships include Ayurvedic professionals who meet previously established qualifying criteria at the level of Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) or Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP) Professional level and must first pass their respective NAMACB certification exam. Ayurvedic Health Counselors (AHC) are trained in preventive healthcare as well as health-promotion with a specific focus on diet and lifestyle through traditional Ayurvedic medical science principles and practices. Ayurvedic Practitioners (AP) are trained in preventive healthcare, nutrition, lifestyle pathology and disease management through traditional Ayurvedic medical science principles and practices. The Ayurvedic Doctor exam is coming soon. Ayurvedic Doctor (AD) use the same diagnostic tools and therapeutic methods as the practitioner, but with greater depth of knowledge and breadth of experience. The doctor has a much deeper understanding of the history, classical texts and pathology.

Professional members can also add two additional designations to their membership: Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist (AYT) or Panchakarma Technician (PKT). Those seeking to become an Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist (AYT) must graduate from a AAC-recognized AYT program. To maintain a professional membership, members are required to submit 28 continuing education credits every two years.
