Dear NAMA Members,
The NAMA Board of Directors would like to announce the installment of our Diversity and Inclusion Committee as of July 2020.
Purpose of this committee: To raise awareness of the importance of fostering diversity, inclusion, and transparency in our organization and to educate our members on the issues surrounding these values.
Mission: To promote and sustain an organizational culture of diversity, inclusion, and transparency. To develop a broad range of opportunities for community involvement; to ensure an accessible path to all roles within the Ayurvedic profession and within NAMA for all members regardless of their race, ethnicity, cultural identity, religious affiliation, gender or sexual orientation, age, or disability status; and to actively support the inclusion of a diverse cross-section of our membership in our organizational framework.
Committee Chair:
Tesia Love is a board certified Ayurvedic Practitioner (NAMACB) from Charlotte, NC where she practices as a Clinical Ayurveda Specialist, 500-hour Yoga Teacher and Licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist offering consultations, Ayurvedic body therapies and women's health bodywork.
Tesia has been a NAMA member since 2013, and was employed as NAMA's membership manager from 2015 - 2018 after having volunteered on the Membership Committee and 2015 Conference Planning Committee. As membership manager, she also served as chair of the Membership Committee, chair of the inaugural Continuing Education Subcommittee, and provided guidance and support to the Students, Schools and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy Subcommittees.
In addition to her professional path in Ayurveda, Tesia has a background in nonprofit management and marketing communications. She is a graduate of the California College of Ayurveda, Duke Integrative Medicine’s Integrative Health Coach program, and holds a Master of Arts in Media and Public Affairs.
"I look forward to serving NAMA as chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and working with other members to help ensure NAMA has a culture of diversity, equitable inclusion, anti-racism and accessibility."
