Join Scott Blossom for an integrative discussion of the powerful ways that oral health influences brain health from both Ayurvedic and biological perspectives.

Bio:
Scott has integrated Traditional Chinese (TCM), Ayurveda, Yoga somatics, and evidence based nutrition into his clinical practice and educational offerings for more than 25 years. Experience has taught him that the one secret to health is not a what, not a product or a specific practice, but how to adapt whatever you are doing so it remains potent and agile through the days and seasons of your life.

Scott received his Biology degree in 1993 from UC Santa Cruz and his TCM licensure from the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine in 1998. Renowned Ayurvedic physician and scholar Dr. Robert Svoboda mentored Scott and they have worked together for more than twenty years. Additionally, Scott studied hatha yoga with master Shandor Remete (Sundernath) for over 20 years.

Always passionate about integrative medicine, Scott began his career pioneering yoga-based wellness classes and acupuncture at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara and Hospice of Santa Barbara in 1996. Since 2008, he has been a faculty member of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda.

He will shed light on the Ayurveda approach to diet, lifestyle and herbal supplementation for clients living without a gallbladder. There will be insights into how to optimize digestion and assimilation of fats and cholesterol for those working with clients without gallbladders or for whom have this condition.

There will be a brief overview of the Ayurvedic view of the liver and gallbladder as well. Your body is capable of adjusting and functioning normally without the gallbladder for the rest of your life and Ayurveda help support those dealing with such a condition.

Bio:
Doug is a graduate of The Ayurvedic Institute’s Ayurvedic Studies Programs (ASP 1, 2, Gurukula). Doug manages Vasant Lad’s Vasanta Institute of Ayuveda (VIOA - Panchakarma services and Ayurveda trainings), and assists his private clinic in Pune India. Consultations of Ayurveda, Jyotish, Vastu, Agnihotra, and Marma are offered via Ayurprana's website (www.liveayurprana.com) or his personal website (www.ayurhealthcoach.com - donation based services). Doug collaborates with Ayurveda Institute, Ayurprana, VIOA, and Banyan Botanicals. Doug is an Ayurvedic Doctor Level Certified by NAMA (National Ayurvedic Medical Association). The LGBTQ+ community faces a dual impact of greater healthcare issues due to marginalization, combined with unequal healthcare access and discrimination. There are inclusive references to the LGBTQ+ community in Vedic times and I have established best practices for providing culturally competent, affirming Ayurvedic healthcare management through my AD research which was peer-reviewed and selected for the 2024 NAMA conference Digital Poster Presentation. I would like to present these practices for Ayurveda Schools, Providers, Associations and other stakeholders to implement.

Bio:
Anuradha Gupta, AD is an Engineer, MBA, and 200 HYT. She is a Guest Faculty, Content Specialist and AP Mentor at Kerala Ayurveda, USA with her own practice, Ayurvedic Footprints. She is a prolific writer. Anu is an Art of Living meditator and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. She was on NAMA’s DEI committee, is on the Board of her local PFLAG and her AD Research was, “Establishing best practices for LGBTQ+ healthcare in Ayurveda”.

Description: Attorneys Susan and Aubrey Etheridge and Product Development Specialist, Matthew Sadler, have graciously offered to volunteer their time to share their insights regarding legal and regulatory trends affecting the practice of Ayurveda and access to botanical products, including herbal medicines traditionally used in Ayurveda.  If you are an Ayurveda professional or you use or work with botanical products, you will not want to miss this presentation1 Susan, Aubrey, and Matt regularly work on the front lines to expand the legal practice of Ayurveda and maintain access to plant medicine.

Presenters

Susan Etheridge is an attorney with over 30 years of legal experience. She is also a NAMA certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist. Susan currently serves as President of Alternative Health Law Firm. Her practice is primarily focused in the areas of alternative and integrative healthcare, technology, and the manufacture and distribution of botanical products. Susan has served in leadership roles involving access to plant medicine.  She is a graduate of Florida State University and Boston University School of Law, and she is a member of The Florida Bar and the National Ayurvedic Medical Association.


Aubrey Etheridge is an Associate Attorney at Alternative Health Law Firm. She assists clients in a variety of areas including corporate transactions, contracts, government affairs, international business, product development, and regulatory compliance.  Aubrey earned her Bachelor of Science in International Affairs from Florida State University and her Juris Doctor degree, as well as her international law certificate, from Florida State University College of Law. Aubrey is a member of The District of Columbia Bar and The Florida Bar.


Matthew Sadler is a Product Development Specialist with Alternative Health Law Firm.  He has over 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and natural product industries, where he has led preclinical, clinical, and overall product development teams for many of the world’s largest R&D-based healthcare companies.  Matthew has extensive experience in the design and conduct of both qualitative and quantitative human efficacy/safety studies, and has strategically recruited and managed teams of world-class scientists – including a team with two Nobel laureates – for business and product development initiatives.  Matthew has considerable experience with both US and Canadian government regulators, and has been instrumental in the government approval of multiple medicines and botanical-based products that are marketed in both countries.

The Kripalu School of Ayurveda (KSA) presents: Ayurveda and the Mind—a brand new, three-part series consisting of a five-day on campus program in April, an evening online program from April–June, and a five-day on campus program in September. This is a unique opportunity to join a cohort of other Ayurvedic practitioners as you learn from expert KSA faculty about mental wellness—an extremally relevant and important topic, especially now. All of the programs in this series are intended to deepen your personal and professional Ayurvedic study and practices. NOTE Programs can be taken as stand-alones or together as a bundle. The Ayurveda Therapist training program is a 6 month in person residential training to learn the basics of Ayurveda along with 35-40 classical therapies in a very natural setting of an Ayurveda hospital in Rural India.

Course Objectives:
1. The course will help the students in learning and practicing a sustainable skill in these times when Ayurveda is regaining prominence worldwide as the medical system of choice for efficacy and sustainability.
2. Graduates will be qualified to appropriately perform over 35 traditional procedures or operations, including pre-operative and post-operative care.
3. The trained Therapists will be proficient in patient management, herbal preparations, operations, sanitation, and team communications.
4. This course is being conducted for fulfilling a long-standing need to train Certified Ayurveda Therapists in traditional techniques and operations for Ayurveda healing.
5. This Training Program presents a new benchmark in the training and development of Certified Ayurveda Therapists while supporting the restoration of scriptural Ayurveda from ancient texts. Ayurveda Therapists can be employed in natural settings such as Ayurveda clinics and treatment centers in India, and in the Spa industry internationally.
